This is a fine example of the WHITWORTH MEMORIAL MEDAL.    It is in original case with name of retailer WYON 287 Regent Street LONDON.   The obverse has a portrait in relief of Whitworth and legend:-   Sir Joseph Whitworth Bart FRS DCL LLD  Born DECr XX1 MDCCC.   Reverse has 2 drawings of machines and words:-  A difference of one millionth  of an inch is measured by using four true planes in concert.   Across obverse base:-  Whitworth Scholarships founded MDCCCLXV111.   Edge engraved:-  THOMAS TAYLOR 1897.    Diameter of medallion 2.25 inches - case 3.5 inches square.  The medallion is struck in BRONZE and is in truly fine condition with no damage or wear that I can see.  The case is good too but the metal press button is missing.
