SEATRAIN LINES
This Company affected Transportation in a More Profound Way than any other in the Shipping Business - including perhaps even the Airlines.
What was the trick?
Well .... to use the Standard Answer from that old TV Show "What's My Line?" ..... It's Bigger than a Breadbox!
In fact quite a bit bigger - but the shape isn't so different!
It's 8 foot high, 8 foot wide and 40 foot long!
Got it yet?
It's the Standard International Shipping Container!
Yup, this baby "ignited an explosion in world trade" as Wikipedia states it. The first "Container Ship" left Newark in 1956 headed for Houston. Soon this method completely replaced the old one of hauling the Entire Railcar!
But the Company responsible for this change ran into some financial difficulty when it walked away from what it knew and stumbled along trying to do something it didn't: Making Oil Supertankers at exactly the same time the Market for them was Drying Up!
By the way, a "Sea Change" - in case you're wondering - is much more profound than a mere change in the direction of the wind. It means in effect that the whole watery world around you has shifted unalterably. So it's well applied here.

The Vignette is Quite Appealing! Next to their Famous and Ingenious Logo - curved arrows in opposite directions (Sea Change, get it?) forming an "S" for Seatrain - is a Student of Geography seated near Two Globes.
You really need to see it Up Close!
