THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO OWN AN ACTUAL COIN USED BY THE ANCIENT ROMANS
Roman Imperial Coins presents an Ancient Roman coin of the Augusta Otacilia Severa - Wife of Philip I. A strange coin in hand with a powdery feel to it, most likely as a result of its rougher time spent in the ground
Circa: 244-249AD Size: 21mm Weight: 2.6 grams Minted: UncertainObverse: M OTACIL SEVERA AVG, diademed and draped bust on crescent right. Reverse: CONCORDIA AVGG, Concordia seated left, holding patera and double cornucopiaeMARCIA OTACILIA SEVERA was the daughter of Severus, a Governor of Pannonia. She married the future Philip I in about 234, and gave birth to the future Philip II in about 237. She also had a daughter, of whom nothing is known. She became Empress (probably the first Christian Empress) in February, 244 when Philip became Augustus after Gordian III's death. She and her family presided over the 1,000th anniversary of Rome in 248. Philip I was killed at Verona in a revolt in August, 249, whereupon Philip II was killed in his mother's arms at Rome by Praetorians. Otacilia survived, but nothing further is known.
