Extremely rare,Awesome Ancient Greek Attic Plate ca. 450 B.C.showing Offering scene in which two Satyrs try to offer/chase a poor prisoner on the Altar/pyre flames to the Gods. The rim is filled with Meander like painting strokes. The Figures are vividly, expressidly shown to fullfill the task of burning/frying the poor soul to get the answer they are looking for to pease the Gods. The Huge Plate is 34 cm in diameter (1 inch = 2.54 cm) and ca. 4 cm high. During the course of History the Plate was partially broken which can be clearly seen. It has been prossionally restores. This is an astounding example of ancient Attic Art, probably one of the better Painters mentioned in Prof. John Boardman`s Book, Black-figured Vases/Terra Cotta, possibly the Baltimore Painter. It comes with a COA and has been tested extensively by a well Chemist.
