Here is a large and impressive patriotic American medal made of bronze, in outstanding condition overall, measuring a healthy 2 & 3/4" across, with a plain edge. With its high reliefs, it is about 3/8" thick, and this heavy piece shows barely a hint of wear.
The obverse features the craggy visage of the nation's forty-first vice-president facing mostly left, with "Nelson Aldrich Rockefeller" around the top, a tiny "Elescu" beneath the shoulder and "C (copyright) 1975" to the right. The reverse depicts one of the finest eagles I have seen on a medal, facing right, with "Vice President Of The United States Of America" around the top and right side. At the lower left is "Inuagurated - December 19, 1974".
One section of the edge is stamped "Medallic Art Co. Danbury Ct. Bronze", while on the opposite side is the number "2497", upside down. This is "The Official Nelson A. Rockefeller Vice Presidential Inaugural Medal", as it says on the included informative and illustrated pamphlet. Rocky! $3.99 |
