This CHOICE original April 6, 1864 uncirculated $100 note from the State of Georgia is as nice as you will find for your collection.  It is a GEM specimen You will be hard press to find a better condition note as it is a bright note with all the border lines present.  Most of these notes are cut with some of the border line missing or in  circulated condition. It was issued in Milledgeville, GA,  between April 30 and June 30, 1864. The center vignette of ” Moneta” A Roman Goddess of Riches and Wealth is often depicted by a chest that is assumed to contain treasure.   This series had no treasury seal stamp as a bright red 100 overprint took it’s place on the face to deter counterfeiting.  Note was printed by Richard H. Howell of Savannah.  At the bottom center it has a registered star clearly visible. Serial number 3463 and all are plate letter “A” numbered # 1 - # 25,000.  Signed by T.D. Tinsley for the Comptroller General and R.J. McCamy for the Treasurer.  The note is hand signed, and numbered. It measures approximately 6.75 inches by 2.85 inches in overall size.
