1857 10¢ Enameled Blue & Black Letter "I" on Stick Pin
Here is an exceptional love token stickpin! Enameled black and blue, with initial "I" in "Old English" style. The entire surface has been engraved with little swirls and ornate designs around the initial. This initial very closely resembles the letter "J" in "Old English" style, but if you look carefully at the alphabet scan attached, you will see the difference. This is a pretty scarce initial, and the host coin's date of 1857 is not as common as most love token dimes of the 1880s-1890. This piece was part of many love token displays I exhibited over the years. Measures almost 80 mm (about 3.25 inches) long. Great eye appeal, and a welcome addition to any love token exhibit or jewelry collection, and could still be used on a man's tie, or woman's scarf. Pins and "jewelry" pieces are not as common as single tokens engraved for necklaces and bracelets. From the Bob Mitchell collection. I have collected Love Tokens since 1967.
